Posted June 27th, 2008 by PaulSoon after the release of jQuery UI 1.5, we were getting many useful feedback and issues entered in our bugtracker. Today, we’re happy to release another version of jQuery UI which takes care of many minor regressions and a lot of unsolved issues.
1.5.1 doesn’t add any new features or API changes, but fixes more than 50 found issues. A full changelog is available, if you want to know the specifics. Updating to this version is highly recommended and likely not to break anything in your written code.
Additionally, issues within ThemeRoller and the demos on our homepage also have been reported and fixed. We are now continuing to finish all unit tests and functional demos, so expect to see another release of both UI and its website soon again.
You can grab the latest release as always via the downloader or as developer package at http://ui.jquery.com/download or if you prefer, get it as latest tag from Subversion.

Why do the tabs still look so awful? They’re still not even touching on the section below as they’re supposed to. (FF3 - recall FF2 as well.)

Not sure if a bug or a common problem, but in jQuery 1.2.6 $.browser.version returns 1.9 instead of 3 (if I use FF 3.0). It may be possible that the render engine is returned. If so it might be okay, but confuses me.

unfortunately jqueryUI has many issues with ie6….

@Don: The function returns the version of the rendering engine. Firefox 2 used Gecko version 1.8. Firefox 3 uses Gecko 1.9. See http://docs.jquery.com/Utilities/jQuery.browser.version for information.

The server on docs.jquery.com is so freakin slow, I can’t take it anymore. A 2 minute wait is required for each page to load (if you’re lucky). You really need to do something about this. It’s worthless.

I love jQuery. But your website is really bad to work with…
http://docs.jquery.com is mostly offline, and also the plugins are almost impossible to load. This is going on for weeks, and it makes learning (and working) with jQuery very hard.

docs.jquery is frequently down…but plugins are definitely not hard to load..
http://remysharp.com/jquery-api/ is an alternate API reference, as is the unfortunately woefully outdated visualjquery.com. what happened there?

Just done my first piece of code using JQUERY / UI, found it very easy to use. I created a font slider which increases/decreases the font size when you slide up/down. Check it out on my website. Keep up the good work !!

Don’t wanna join a report group, so I post it here, where it can be ignored.
$(’foo’).toggle(); should really accept effects like $(’foo’).toggle(”slide”), .toggle(”fade”).
Just a suggestion for an improvement.

I’m not sure if it’s only problem on my side (FF2 and FF3 on Win box) but any changes made in Themeroller are not being populated to Preview, I tried to change some background colors but nothing happened in Preview. It worked on 1.5.0 but not anymore. But I love the idea anyway, great job guys.

I may notice that the download tool is missing the
option to choose ‘puff’ as effect to download.
At least it’s not listed. =o)
Anyway, I love jQuery and the new UI! =o)

Thanks again for all your work! However get real guys, this should be 0.5.1, or at least labeled as beta- not a stable 1.5.1. There are varying serious usability issues in every browser. Docs and examples are sparse, incomplete and inconsistent. Examples can even be misleading. Reference themes and jQuery UI themeroller themes are not even compatible with the same markup- and further themeroller themes don’t produce enough styles for all widgets i.e. incomplete too. Don’t put marketing before the code, be honest about where UI is at.

I’m try very hard to test jquery on a client’s place holder page — a simple single page with some animation and a form to be used until the production site is done. I figured I’d incorporate jquery and give myself a couple days to build what should have taken a half day using xhtml/css/javsscript. Currently I’m forced to use doc.jquery.com to get my information — I have the ref book on order from amazon. The server is so freaking slow — I’m mean beyond slow — that I’m on day two with next to no headway and I’m debating canceling the book, dropping jquery and moving on. Are you running this thing on ADSL, are donations and book sales such that you just can’t afford decent hosting? I’m pretty bummed as the idea of jquery is great, but your site is really frustrating and to read this thread it has been going on for a while. Have you thought of creating a pdf or archive (zip, rar, sit, etc…) of the site and put it on a public server?
Sorry if I sound like a jerk, but I’m having a hard time understanding this. Please don’t bother to flame me I’m not likely to return jquery has my email if they have a recourse and my intentions are sincere
